Critters for Baby Bear
Our little family has a new addition and I’m an over-the-moon auntie! Sweet baby Arthur. These are for him.
Cards!
Howdy!
I have cards for sale! I’m very happy with them. They were printed locally, they’re 100% recycled cardstock, and they’re soooooooooo nice.
There are flowers…
and not flowers!
florescence
Hi!
The show is up and I’m feeling well-rested and ready for the next thing. Well, two next things really—I’ll be announcing them soon! A great big bucket of love to the people who made it out for the opening, I felt so ridiculously supported.
For those of you that weren’t able to make it—I love you too—and here are some pictures of the end result AND a video interview of me talking about my work. Enjoy!
A Show!
I’m having a show!
I’ve been working my arse off for months and I’m very happy with what all the work turned into. There were a handful of challenges along the way— mainly gesso that refused to dry because New England has monsoon season now. The reception is (outdoors) on October 1st from 5-7:30pm at Greenfield Artspace in Greenfield, MA. I hope to see you there!
Here’s the show write up from the gallery: florescence
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers!
I got to spend an entire day at the printshop. These are all 9x12 inches.
More Flowers!!
I’ve been photographing just about as much as I’ve been drawing and printing. Hopefully, I’ll have a decent enough cache to feel inspired by these wacky things through this winter.
Flowers :)
Hi!! I’m still here. The spring garden really knows how to take every available second. But, the flowers are chugging along now and I’ve reclaimed a good few hours everyday for making images of them.
Ranunculus and repeat
Alright. So. I made the same image again and again (and again.) Sometimes the paper was dry, sometimes the paper was damp. For most of them I used a Takach etching press at the printmaking studio. When I got home I made two more with my pin press to help demonstrate what can and can’t be achieved with just the pressure of my body on a fancy rolling pin.
This is my Akua pin press. She’s very fancy and very evenly machined. You hold onto those half moons and roll it over the print. Like this:
The ink goes on that thin plastic plate and the paper goes on top of that and then I put as much pressure as I possibly can on the whole thing and roll.
This is an etching press. The plate goes on the bed and the paper goes on the plate and then the whole thing gets rolled under that giant roller (there are also big felt blankets involved.) There’s a lot of pressure. It makes a difference.
ok. you ready?
Ranunculus 1. takach press, soaked zerkall copperplate paper.
Rununculus 2. takach press, dry zerkall copperplate paper.
Ranunculus 3. takach press, dry zerkall copperplate paper.
